Every brand, honest advice, no callout fee
Albany Tyres is independently owned, which means we are not tied to one manufacturer and we are not pushing whatever we have been told to push this month. We can get any tyre brand sold in New Zealand, so the conversation starts with your car, your driving and your budget rather than with a brochure.
Most cars we see are on a 14, 15, 16 or 17 inch wheel, and for those sizes there is usually a good option at three or four different price points. Sam and the team will tell you where the extra money actually buys you something, in wet grip, in road noise or in tread life, and where it does not.

When it is time for new tyres
You do not need to guess. Any of these is worth a phone call.
Tread is getting low
The legal minimum in New Zealand is 1.5mm across the tread. Wet weather stopping distances start getting noticeably worse well before that, so most people are better off replacing at around 3mm.
Uneven wear
If one edge is going bald while the rest looks fine, the tyre is not the whole problem. That pattern usually means the alignment needs checking, and new tyres on a bad alignment will wear out the same way.
Cracking or age
Rubber hardens with age whether the car is driven or not. Fine cracks in the sidewall on an older set are a sign the tyres are past their best, even with tread left on them.

Find your size
It is on the sidewall of your current tyre, something like 205/55 R16. Search that in the shop, or read it out to us on the phone.

Pick a time and a place
Home, work, or wherever the car is sitting. We cover the North Shore, Auckland central, the west and Rodney, Monday to Saturday.

We come to you
The van carries the tyres, the fitting gear and the balancer. Your old tyres leave with us.
